Another Wyoming Point Guard is Hitting Open Market
LARAMIE -- Wyoming has lost another point guard.
It was revealed Sunday that AJ Wills will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal just six days after the Cowboys' leading scorer, Obi Agbim, announced on social media he would be hitting the open market.

Wills, a 6-foot-2, 160-pound sophomore, will be looking for a new home for the second time in as many years. He transferred to Laramie after one season at Holy Cross. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
The Richmond, Va., product averaged 4.8 points per game and dished out nearly two assists while playing more than 18 minutes per night.
After netting a season-high 17 points in a home loss to Boise State, Wills earned one of his five starts on the year in Colorado Springs just four days later. With Agbim on the shelf with an ankle injury, Wills ran the point, playing all 40 minutes and finishing with five assists and the same number of points in a 70-65 victory over Air Force.
"I just told my staff, I want to play AJ more," head coach Sundance Wicks said following the nine-point setback against the Broncos. "I want to get AJ more minutes. He's been really good ... I want to get him in sooner. I looked (down the bench) and said why hasn't AJ been in the game?
"... AJ is a guy who changes our pace."
That was the good.
Still without the services of Agbim, Wills logged just 14 minutes in a home loss to eventual Mountain West champion New Mexico. He was 0-of-6 from the field and missed all three of his attempts from deep. He capped his night with just one assist and three personal fouls as the conference player of the year, Donovan Dent, got hot in the second half and finished with a game-high 22 points.
"You go from the backup singer to the lead singer, right, you gotta be OK with having an ugly face if you're lead singer," Wicks said. "... There's no pressure, in a lot of ways, when you get to come in. AJ has been able to play free when he comes in as the backup PG. You can go out there and do what he does, and he'll spark minutes. But when you start rolling 40 and 30 (minutes) and we're counting on you to kind of be the guy to orchestrate it and be the conductor, you get keyed on more.
"That's what happens when you go to the top of the scouting report."
Wills reached double figures four times last winter. He also failed to get in the final box score eight times. He connected on 39.7% of his shots from the field. That number jumped to nearly 43% from beyond the arc on 10-of-34 shooting.
The program has said goodbye to Dontaie Allen, Touko Tainamo, Cole Henry, Jordan Nesbitt and Kobe Newton. Those five have exhausted their eligibility. Cort Roberson, who spent his entire career at Wyoming, is also forgoing his final season.
A court ruling is granting an additional year to all seniors who began their career at the junior college level. That's why Agbim is in college basketball's version of free agency.
The transfer portal officially opens on Monday and goes through April 22.
Wicks and Co. have currently have just three incoming commits: Forwards Gavin Gores (6'10", 210, Cumberland, Wisconsin) and Neil Summers (6'9", 240, Laramie, Wyo.) and guard Nasir Meyer (6'7", 185, Los Angeles, Calif.).
Scottie Ebube, Abou Magassa, Matija Belic, Levi Brown, Nigle Cook, Garrett Spielman and Oleg Kojenets, for now, are still on the roster.
