After throwing for nearly 1,700 yards, rushing for an additional 1,125 and accounting for 27 touchdowns last fall, the Cody High School product announced Monday on social media he intends to sign with Wyoming.

"After a lot of thought and prayer, I’m proud to announce my commitment to the University of Wyoming," he penned on X. "I thank God for this opportunity to further glorify him. I’m beyond thankful for my family, coaches, and everyone who helped me get here.

"Excited for what’s ahead."

McFadden, who will make the move to safety fulltime in Laramie, is the ninth known member of the 2027 recruiting class. He also received offers from Bemidji State, Carroll College and Montana Tech. Utah, Montana, Montana State and Dartmouth also showed interest.

He will join Colorado receivers Levi Rillos (Ralston Valley) and Alijah Landrum-Hamilton (Cherry Creek), along with quarterback Tucker Ingersoll (Pomona). Defensive back Karson McKenzie (Cherry Creek) also intends to sign on the dotted line in December. So does quarterback Michael Vander Luitgaren and tight end Thomas Prescott, both of Batavia High School in Illinois and linebacker Drew Benassi of Lee's Summit, Mo. Kingston Beyer, a 290-pound defensive tackle from Fort Worth, Texas, also gave his verbal last week.

That number could reach 15 this summer, according to a source familiar with the situation, including the addition of another "local product." Sawvel and Co. still plan to add two more safeties, a defensive end and tackle, along with an offensive lineman in this class.

Wyoming's known commits have bumped the 2027 class, so far, up to 96th nationally out of 138 FBS programs. UNLV (59), North Dakota State (89) and New Mexico (90) are rated higher. The rest of the Mountain West ranks like this: Hawaii (97), San Jose State (100), Nevada (103), Northern Illinois (118) and Air Force (N/A).
