LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowboys look to continue their winning ways on Saturday hosting McNeese State at 2 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium.

Fans can listen to the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The contest will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Reece Monaco will have the call with Kevin McKinney on color. You can watch the game on the Mountain West Network.

About The Teams

Wyoming is 7-0 this season after downing Denver in the Arena-Auditorium 77-64. The Cowboys rank seventh in the nation in field goal percentage shooting 51 percent from the field. Wyoming also rank eighth in the nation in scoring margin at +23.6. The Cowboys are one of 14 undefeated teams in the nation this season. The Pokes rank No. 14 in the nation in defensive rebounding this season at 30.4.

The McNeese Cowboys are led by first-year head coach John Aiken. He was the Associate Head Coach for three seasons before being elevated when former Wyoming head coach Heath Schroyer stepped down to take the Athletics Director role. McNeese is 3-5 on the young season with just one win over a Division I foe. These Cowboys were selected to finish fifth in the eight-team preseason Southland Conference poll.

About The Players

Wyoming is led in scoring this season by forward Graham Ike at 21.1 points per game. He scored 35 against Denver for a career high. He has scored 20 or more points in four games this season. He also leads the team grabbing 8.9 rebounds per game, as he has double-doubles in back-to-back home games. Guard Hunter Maldonado adds 18.7 points per game and adds six rebounds and leads the team and ranks third in the MW with 5.5 assists per game. Guard Drake Jeffries adds 12.6 points per game and ranks second in the nation shooting 57 percent from beyond the arc.

The McNeese Cowboys are led offensively by a two-headed monster. Brendan Medley-Bacon pours in 11.9 points and collects 6.3 rebounds per game, while Myles Lewis adds 11.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest. Four other players average between 6.9 and 9.4 points per game. McNeese is top 10 in the country in steals per game, accumulating just over 11 and its bottom 10 in free throw percentage, connecting on under 60 percent as a team.

 

About The Series

Wyoming and McNeese State will meet for the second time on Saturday. Wyoming won the first meeting at home by a score of 76-50 on Dec. 7, 1989. Reggie Slater led the Pokes that day with 14 points and nine rebounds on 6-of-8 shooting.
