Cowboys in the NFL: Week 8

LARAMIE -- Chase Roullier's season came to a devastating end Sunday afternoon at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium, just 128 miles south of where Washington's center played his college football in Laramie.

The official diagnosis is a fractured left fibula. Roullier was carted off the field late in the second quarter during a 17-10 loss to Denver after the back of his leg was rolled up on by Broncos defensive tackle, Shelby Harris.

The team put Roullier on injured reserve today.

The fifth-year pro from Savage, Minn., signed a 4-year, $50,000,000 contract last January to remain in DC until 2024. Roullier has been one of the top offensive linemen in the NFL, starting 61 of 67 games played since he was drafted in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The 28-year-old has never missed a game since entering the league.

Logan Wilson -- Linebacker -- Cincinnati Bengals

Despite the surprising 34-31 setback against the lowly New York Jets, Logan Wilson led the Bengals with 12 total tackles, including 10 solo stops. The Casper product now has 72 tackles, a sack, 2.5 tackles for loss and four interceptions through eight games. The former third-round selection in Cincinnati leads the team in tackles by a margin of 20. His four picks is also three more than his closest teammate.

Tashaun Gipson -- Safety -- Chicago Bears

After missing the game a week prior with a hip injury, former Cowboys Tashaun Gipson finished with five tackles and a pass breakup in a 33-22 loss to San Francisco Sunday afternoon in Chicago. The 10th-year safety now has 19 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery through five games this season.

Marcus Epps -- Safety -- Philadelphia Eagles

This former walk-on at Wyoming played all 62 defensive snaps for the Eagles in Sunday's dominant 44-6 road win in the Motor City. Marcus Epps registered nine tackles and a pass breakup against the Lions. He now has 42 tackles on the season. Epps also has two pass deflections through Philly's first eight games.

Andrew Wingard -- Safety -- Jacksonville Jaguars

Jaguars safeties coach sure likes what he's seen from the former Cowboy, Andrew Wingard. Not only does the former undrafted free agent have 42 tackles, a sack and an interception from the free safety spot, he is now in charge of calling the Jacksonville defense. "Well, one, he's a competitor. He competes every single day that he's out here. He's really become the quarterback of our defense," Chris Ash told Jaguar Report. "He knows the defense inside-out, he communicates at a very high level, he helps others get adjusted and lined up. And there's just tremendous value in that. And then when you watch him as a player, he's sneaky good, man. He's all over the field and highly productive." Wingard registered just a pair of tackles in a 31-7 loss Sunday in Seattle.

Jacob Hollister -- Tight end -- Jacksonville Jaguars

Is former Wyoming tight end Jacob Hollister about to have yet another home address? The fifth-year tight end played in Seattle last year and spent nearly all of training camp with the Buffalo Bills before being dealt to Jacksonville just before the 2021 season. With the Jags, Hollister has just four catches for 21 yards and a touchdown. The NFL trade deadline is today and many think Hollister could be on the move. He was inactive in this week's 31-7 road loss to the Seahawks.

Carl Granderson -- Defensive end -- New Orleans Saints

Former UW standout Carl Granderson tallied one tackles and half a tackle for loss as the Saints upended the defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers 36-27 Sunday afternoon in New Orleans. In just five games, the third-year pro has nine tackles, a sack and a blocked kick to his credit. Hollister is not the only former Cowboy with trade rumors swirling around him. Granderson could also be moved today, according to some NFL beat writers.

Josh Allen -- Quarterback -- Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen tossed a pair of touchdown passes and added one on the ground in a 26-11 victory over NFC East rival Miami Sunday in Orchard Park. As you can see in the video above, that swagger we saw for two seasons in Laramie has only gotten amped up as Allen's star has continued to rise. Against the Dolphins, Allen completed nearly 70% of his passes, connecting on 29-of-42 for 249 yards. He also carried the ball eight times for 55 yards. Allen now has 17 touchdown passes compared to just three picks. He also has three rushing touchdowns through seven weeks.
