Cowboys Rally in Second Round of R.E.L Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif., –The Wyoming Cowboys shot a 282 (-6) in the second round of the R.E.L. Invitational Presented by Lamkin Golf Grips, as UW sits tied for eighth place after the first day of action in a talented field at the San Diego Country Club in San Diego, Calif.

The Pokes shot a 291 (+3) in the first round and moved up eight spots during the second round of the day with a two-round total of 573 (-3).

“The kids played well today and got better as the day went on,” UW head coach Joe Jensen said. “I give credit to our guys to keep plugging away and put together a solid round. This is such a good field, and we are being competitive. We will go out tomorrow and compete on a terrific golf course.”

The round of 282 (-6) was tied for the fourth lowest round of the season with four players shooting under-par for the round.

The Pokes were led by Patrick Azevedo with a two-round score of 140 (-4) with rounds of 69 (-3) and 71 (-1). He sits in a tie for 13th place, as his 69 (-3) tied a season low. Jaren Calkins sits in a tie for 32nd at 143 (-1) and shot a 70 (-2) in the second round. Jimmy Dales is tied for 43rd with a two-round score of 145 (+1) with rounds of 74 (+2) and 71 (-1).

Kristof Panke is tied for 51st with rounds of 76 (+4) and 70 (-2). Davis Seybert is at 151 (+7) and is tied for 79th place.

Colorado and Fresno State led the field at -18. San Diego and Loyola Marymount are tied for third at -17 with San Diego State in fifth at -9. Craig Ronne leads the field for San Diego at -9 and shot a 65 (-2) In the second round.

The event wraps up on Tuesday morning.
