CRESWELL, Ore., –The Wyoming Cowboy golfers wrapped up action on the second day of the Mountain West Championships on Saturday afternoon at Emerald Valley Country Club in Creswell, Ore.

The Cowboys finished the day carding a team score of 291 (+3) and are in ninth place after two-days with a tally of 581 (+5). The close field is separated by only 11 strokes from fourth to ninth place.

“We have one more day left, but we are in good spot, and we just struggled on a few holes today,” UW head coach Joe Jensen said. “The guys are engaged, and it has been a long time since I have seen a tournament so compressed in the standings. We have a lot of good stuff going and with our routine and process, we will go out and put together a solid final round.”

Patrick Azevedo carded a 71 (-1) on Saturday to lead the way for the Brown and Gold and is tied for 31st at 146 (+2) after two rounds. Jimmy Dales added another even-par score of 72. He added the same score in the opening round and is tied for 20th. Dales leads the field with 30 pars for the tournament.

Jaren Calkins and Kristof Panke each added scores of 74 (+2) on Saturday. Calkins is tied with Dales for 20th place in the event at even-par. Panke is in tied for 35th place at 147 (+3). Davis Seybert is at 154 (+10) after carding a 76 (+4) on Saturday and is in a tie for 49th place.

Colorado State leads the field after the second round at 566 (-10). San Diego State and San Jose State are tied for second at 568 (-8). Julio Arronte of Utah State leads the field after shooting a 66 (-6) for the second round.

The tournament wraps up tomorrow morning with the final round of the championships.
