Cowgirls Drop Four-Setter to Utah State
* University of Wyoming press release
LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team battled hard Saturday, but ultimately it was not enough as the Mountain West-leading Aggies of Utah State defeated the Cowgirls in four sets in the UniWyo Sports Complex.
Set scores went 25-21, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-15.

Wyoming (16-7, 5-7 MW) hit an impressive .273 in the contest, but Utah State (18-5, 11-1 MW) was even more efficient offensively, hitting .331 for the match. The Aggies also had seven aces on the day while UW had just one. The Cowgirls did out-block USU at the net, 11-7.
Offensively, the Cowgirls were led by Tierney Barlow’s 17 kills and .500 efficiency. Corin Carruth and Rylee Schulz also finished with double-digit kills with 11 each. Sarah Holcomb and Paige Lauterwasser added eight and seven, respectively. Holcomb led all players with seven total blocks Saturday, as she continues to pace the league in blocks per set.
In the back row, Sierra Grizzle notched a match-high 10 digs while Schulz had eight. Kasia Partyka and Zoee Smith chipped in with five each. Partyka also added a trio of kills and had 46 assists on the day. Skylar Erickson had the lone ace for the Cowgirls.
A big final stretch of matches for the Cowgirls now begins with four-straight on the road. The UW road trip begins Tuesday at 7 p.m., with a trip to Border Rival Colorado State. The Cowgirls defeated the Rams in four sets earlier in the month in Laramie.
