LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowgirls head back out on the road looking to get back on the winning tract as they begin a two-game week away from home. Wyoming begins three of its next four games on the road with a trip to Utah State for a 6 p.m., contest Thursday.

ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
The Cowgirls (12-7, 5-3 MW) are looking to snap a two-game losing streak Thursday. UW is coming off a 73-66 loss to San Diego State Saturday in Laramie. Quinn Weidemann led all scorers with 19 points in the loss and shot 8-of-14 from the field. Allyson Fertig and Emily Mellema also scored in double figures in the contest as Fertig went for 15 points and eight rebounds. Mellema, meanwhile, scored in double-digits for the third time in the last four games as she added 11 points off the bench. Mellema, along with Marta Savic, led the Cowgirls with three assists each against the Aztecs.

On the season, Weidemann is leading the Cowgirls in scoring average at 12.4 points per game and leads the Mountain West shooting 42.2-percent from 3-point range. Weidemann also leads UW in conference play at 12 points a contest and is averaging two assists and a steal per contest. Fertig is averaging 11.5 points, seven rebounds and 1.9 blocks a game in league contests.

Wyoming is looking to extend its three-game road winning streak this trip. Dating back to last season, the Cowgirls have won 6-of-8 on the road in Mountain West play. UW is in the midst of a nine-game stretch with six contests on the road.

SCOUTING UTAH STATE
Maria Carvalho leads Utah State and is the only Aggie averaging in double figures in 2022-23, scoring 10.7 points per game. Carvalho leads the Aggies with 5.3 rebounds per contest and 23 made 3-pointers and is second on the team with 47 assists and 26 steals. Tamiah Robinson has a team-high 62 assists this season and is averaging 8.4 points per game. Mayson Kimball and Olivia Wikstrom are second on the team, both averaging 8.5 points per game.

USU averages 60.5 points per game and is allowing 74.4 per contest. The Aggies are shooting 34.5-percent overall from the floor and 31.1-percent from 3-point range. Utah State opponents are shooting at a 45-percent clip and 34.4-percent from beyond-the-arc. The Aggies shoot nearly 74-percent from the free-throw line and is averaging just over 36 rebounds a contest.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UTAH STATE
Wyoming leads the all-time series against the Aggies, 28-10 and is 10-6 in Logan. The Cowgirls lost last season’s lone meeting with Utah State, 76-66 on the road, it was the first trip to Logan for UW since January of 2020. The Cowgirls are 4-4 in their last eight meetings on the road against Utah State. In last season’s game in Logan, Fertig went for 17 points and 12 boards.
