Gipson inks 1-year deal to remain in Chicago
LARAMIE -- Former Wyoming Cowboy Tashaun Gipson has reportedly agreed to a 1-year deal to remain with the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN's NFL Insider, Dan Graziano.
Gipson, who played in Laramie from 2008-11, is entering his 10th season in the NFL this fall. The 30-year-old safety played for the Bears last season, snagging two interceptions and racking up 65 tackles from the Chicago secondary.
Gipson all but confirmed the reports and had this to say in a post on his Facebook page:
"A Goal I never thought about or even believed was possible when I came in this league undrafted, and here we are I’m OFFICIALLY 10 in, Damn TEN! 10 productive MF years in this. GLORY BE TO GOD!! Truly!! To my family WE did this. Just a kid from oak cliff Look at you God. Excited to get back to work in Chicago! #decade"
The Dallas native has 25 career interceptions as a member of the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans and Bears. He went undrafted in 2012 after finishing his UW career with 12 interceptions and 250 tackles.
By 2014, Gipson was in the Pro Bowl.

Despite being recruited by Baylor, Louisville, Fresno State and Idaho, among others, Gipson chose Wyoming. That had plenty to do with another player already in the Cowboys' secondary, his older brother Marcell Gipson.
Gipson joins Jacob Hollister, Tyler Hall and Tanner Gentry in the group of former UW players to sign contracts this offseason. Hollister inked a 1-year deal with Buffalo, joining former Cowboys Josh Allen and Gentry in Western New York. Gentry signed a reserves/futures contract with the Bills in January. Hall signed an extension with the Falcons in early March.
Brian Hill, Wyoming's all-time leading rusher, is still without a new team. The running back played for the Atlanta Falcons the last three seasons, rushing for 945 yards on 198 carries. Hill also has three career touchdowns.
