Grizzle, Schulz Selected to Mountain West Global Challenge Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., – A pair of University of Wyoming volleyball student-athletes have been selected to represent the Mountain West in the MW Global Challenge Tour this summer, held July 12-21 in Croatia, Italy and Slovenia.

Cowgirl libero Sierra Grizzle and outside hitter Rylee Schulz were selected to the 12-player team.

2024 Global Challenge Schedule
July 12-14 – Arrive in Maribor, Slovenia for training and friendly matches with visiting club and national teams.
July 15 – Travel to Pula, Croatia, for opening ceremonies
July 16-19 – Competition Days: Global Challenge 2024
July 20 – In Venice, Italy
July 21 – Return to the USA

Grizzle and Schulz were both fixtures in the Cowgirl lineup in 2023 as both appeared in all 121 sets. Grizzle led Wyoming with 330 digs (2.73 per set) this past season and was second on the squad with 34 aces and 86 assists. Grizzle had 19 matches with double-digit digs, including seven with 15-plus.

Schulz, meanwhile, was an Honorable Mention All-Mountain West selection this past season after leading the Cowgirls and finishing sixth in the league averaging 3.28 kills per set. Schulz tallied a total of 397 kills and was ninth in the MW with 3.77 points per set. Schulz tallied 23 matches with 10-or-more kills in 2023 and recorded nine double-doubles.

About the Global Challenge
Year after year, the mission of the Global Challenge is to provide teams with international playing experience and exposure. Past tournament participants have included club and country federation teams from Slovenia, Russia, Romania, Germany, Bosnia, Montenegro, China, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Japan, Iran, Sweden, Denmark, and Puerto Rico, plus USA regional HP, youth national, junior national, and collegiate national teams.
