The Jay Sawvel era at Wyoming gets underway tonight against Arizona State in Tempe. Kickoff is slated for 8:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on FS1.
Can the Cowboys, for a second straight season, knock off an A4 opponent in Week 1?
Can this team win its third consecutive game away from Laramie?
Will this offense finally have a semblance of balance as Even Svoboda takes the reins?

* Wyoming is wearing brown pants tonight in Tempe. That's the first time that has happened since the Dave Christensen era back in 2013. ASU is wearing gold pants. Makes sense.
* The temperature at the moment reads: 100. It's not all that bad, though, at field level. Around 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time, the sun was already behind the mountains just outside the stadium. It's hot, but comfortable.
* Sun Devils fan were asked to wear yellow tonight. They certainly are. So are the hundreds of Wyoming fans that crammed into a local establishment called Culinary Dropout. There are lots of folks who made the trip from the Cowboy State for this one.
* While standing down near the north end zone during pregame, caught a little smack talk coming from ASU's 6-foot-2, 270-pound defensive lineman Justin Wodtly. He was ribbing Wyoming QB Evan Svoboda, saying something about his size. He is 6-foot-5, 245 pounds. The junior signal caller had him on ignore.
* Anyone check on your closest CSU friend today?
* Bad news for the Cowpokes. Heard last night this could be a game-time decision. Apparently that decision has been made ...
* With Gyllenborg on the sidelines tonight expect to see plenty of seniors Nick Miles and Caleb Driskill at the tight-end spot. Sophomore Isaac Shoenfeld from Rock Springs could also see time. Spoke to him pregame and he sounded optimistic.
* By now you also know senior running back Harrison Waylee is out tonight after undergoing knee surgery a couple of weeks ago. DJ Jones, a North Carolina transfer, will get the start. Sam Scott and Jamari Ferrell are also expected to get work.
* It's 96 degrees and partly cloudy. Lot of lightning in the distance. Could pose a problem ...
FIRST QUARTER:
* Evan Svoboda just tossed a Pick-six to open this one. That was a 26-yard return. Ouch. No the fast start Sawvel was looking for. ASU 7 Wyoming 0 14:19/ 1Q
* That was ASU linebacker Zyrus Fiaseu with the interception. It was actually a 29-yard return
* Pokes putting a little something together on this drive. That was a 15-yard run for DJ Jones.
* Sawvel and Co. take their first timeout. UW facing a 2nd-and-22 at their own 42. A once nice-looking drive derailed by a pair of pre-snap penalties.
* Annnnnd another false start. This time it's Wes King.
* Svoboda picked off again. This time he threw behind his receiver over the middle. Keyshaun Elliott snags this one. Devils in biz at Wyoming's 38.
* Two picks and three pre-snap penalties to go along with 32 yards of total offense for this Cowboys offense. ASU's offense is just now seeing the field. ASU 7 Wyoming 0 10:01/ 1Q
* Tyce Westland with a big sack on 3rd-and-4. ASU will have to settle for a field goal. Big play on the UW 12-yard line

* Many problems tonight, obviously, but Wyoming is getting absolutely nothing done on first down. Way too many third-and-long situations ... Way too many obvious passing situations ... Way too many mental mistakes.
* Wyoming just gave up a 3rd-and-9 to Leavitt on the ground. The angles have been so bad on defense. That just can't happen. Tyrecus Davis is now slowly leaving the field with trainers. ASU at the UW 25
