MW commissioner: Fall sports canceled because of ‘unknowns’

LARAMIE -- Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson said it's not a complicated answer why fall sports were canceled in 2020 -- "unknowns."

Thompson is referring to the ramifications of COVID-19, the pandemic that has shut down two Power-5 conferences and two mid-major leagues, like the Mountain West, so far.

Thompson says he hopes basketball and all other winter sports can start on time, but, as we've seen, things can "change on a moments notice."
