LARAMIE -- Drew LaMont is the lone former Cowboy currently in the transfer portal, according to 247sports.com. In fact, he's the only Mountain West player who has yet to find a new home.

LaMont played in five games for Wyoming this season, averaging more than 10 minutes of court time under first-year head coach Jeff Linder. The 6-foot-8 forward from Plantation, Fla., averaged 3.4 points per outing.

LaMont left the program on Dec. 21.

"We thank Drew for his contributions to our program and we wish him well in the future," Linder said in a release.

Wyoming has also added a player through the transfer portal this season.

Brendan Wenzel, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from San Antonio, Texas, left the University of Utah after just one-plus seasons in Salt Lake City. Wenzel played in two games for the Utes last fall. The former three-star recruit averaged 5.5 minutes of court time and was 0-3 from the floor.

“We’re excited to welcome Brendan Wenzel to the Wyoming Men’s Basketball program,” Linder said in a statement Jan. 7. “Brendan is a young man that we recruited heavily when he was coming out of high school in the class of 2019. He’s a skilled player with great size and shooting for his position. Brendan’s ability allows him to play and defend multiple spots on the floor while forcing the defense to respect his shooting. He has a fantastic work ethic and passion for improvement that we value in the Cowboy program. Brendan’s best basketball is ahead of him and we’re excited to get him in the Brown and Gold.”

Wenzel was ranked as the No. 18 recruit in the state of Texas, according to Rivals.com. As a senior, he averaged 24.1 points per game to go along with five rebounds and 1.7 assists. He shot 41 percent behind the arc and 87 percent from the free throw line.

Wenzel won't be eligible to play until next fall. He will have four years left at UW.
