LARAMIE -- Before Mark Tommerdahl roamed the sidelines in Tuscaloosa, West Lafayette, Minneapolis, Lubbock and Berkley, among other stops, Al Kincaid gave him his first coaching gig in Laramie back in 1984.

He was a graduate assistant. That label didn't last long.

For 11 seasons -- four bowl appearances and three WAC titles -- Tommerdahl served as a recruiting coordinator, tight ends coach and offensive coordinator at Wyoming. He worked under Dennis Erickson, Paul Roach and Joe Tiller during his tenure on the high plains.

Tommerdahl will coach on the game's biggest stage Monday night when his No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs take on top-ranked Georgia in the National Championship game. He has been the special teams coordinator in Fort Worth for two seasons.

If you are still on the fence about who to root for, maybe this will help your decision? Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time from SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
