Rants & Raves: Boise State Edition
LARAMIE -- The hits just keep on coming.
Just when it looks like Wyoming could pull off the impossible, it loses its starting quarterback just before the half. Kaden Anderson suffered a concussion and was forced into protocol.
He wouldn't return in this 17-13 setback against No. 12 Boise State.
Anderson completed 9-of-14 throws for 116 yards. The redshirt freshman was again poised. He was also hitting deep shots, twice connecting with Jaylen Sargent, including a 41-yard strike that set up the Cowboys' lone touchdown of the night. That was a simple flat route to Justin Stevenson from five yards out.
The defense certainly did its part, limiting the visiting Broncos to just 353 yards of total offense, more than 140 under their season average.
Ashton Jeanty, a Heisman hopeful that eclipsed the 2,000-yard rushing mark tonight, was limited to just 169 on the ground, 61 of which came on a first-quarter touchdown jaunt.
Yes, that's limiting. The junior averages 256 an outing.
Aaron Bohl's defense also gave Maddux Madsen fits, limiting Boise State's signal caller to just 168 yards on 14-of-26 passing. That unit did that damage despite being without the services of defensive tackle Jordan Bertagnole and edge rushers Sabastian Harsh and Braden Siders.
Rave to the effort tonight from this team. Rant to a forgettable 2024.
