Rants & Raves: North Texas Edition
DENTON, Texas -- At least Shae Suiaunoa is thinking about you.
"It's not ideal," Wyoming's senior linebacker said after yet another embarrassing setback, this time a 44-17 thumping, courtesy of North Texas. "I feel really bad because I know how huge our fan base is, and I know we love them. I feel really bad, and I know that's not how we want to start. It's frustrating, of course."
The shorthanded Cowboys gave up 534 yards of total offense Saturday night in muggy Denton. Chandler Morris and the gang scored on all but three drives. The junior transfer connected on 28-of-41 throws for 305 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Shane Porter rushed for 120 yards and DT Sheffield snagged eight passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. Makenzie McGill finished with just six carries in this one. Three of those resulted in celebrations inside the green paint.
Safety Wyett Ekeler didn't play. Turns out he broke both thumbs in last week's loss to BYU. His running mate, Isaac White, didn't finish the game. His latest injury is unknown. Wrook Brown was forced to watch the first half from the sideline inside DATCU Stadium. He was flagged last week for targeting, forcing him to miss the first 30 minutes.
Edge rusher Braden Siders was also absent. He was in "protocol."
This one was competitive in the first half. The second, per usual, is when the Mean Green pulled away. Wyoming has now been outscored in the third quarter 52-0 this year.
Brutal. All the way around.
