LARAMIE -- Where to begin?

Wyoming's much-maligned offense churned out 470 yards behind the fresh right arm of Kaden Anderson and the battered legs of Sam Scott. That unit even finished 4-for-4 in the red zone.

It's what you've all been waiting for, right?

Not exactly.

Three of those trips inside the 20 resulted in chip-shot field goals. Questionable play calls and penalties were responsible for that in this disheartening 27-25 loss to Utah State inside War Memorial Stadium.

The Cowboys are now 1-7 overall and in the midst of a three-game skid.

A 40-yard game-winning field goal at the buzzer sent Jay Sawvel's squad to the basement of the Mountain West standings and the visiting bench out to midfield to hoist Jim Bridger's rifle in what could be the last meeting between these two rivals in this building.

I'll let the fans tell the tale below:

FIRST HALF:

Jennifer Duncan Kinda love switching out quarterbacks. We’re in a building season, obviously. Give them time under center, and they’ll compete for the job!

Waylon Satake Can we be done with the experiment. Anderson looks why more composed. And the 3rd down sack wasn't his fault. Lt got caught reaching. It's the same stuff with Svoboda every week. Makes a decent read but can't throw the football accurately to save his life.

Sean Murray I’ve tried to stay positive all year. This is hard to watch today. Time to bench Svoboda. Ten point turnaround in less than 2 minutes and that pick was ridiculous.

Dustin Merritt Jay and Jay should be fired immediately because of that clock management prior to the 2 mins warning alone.

John Rando What the hell are we doing taking Kaden out at the 5? They were keying on the run when svoboda came in. Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!!

Mike McGraw Why!!?? Im sorry, this Coach has to go now.. How can you be so damn clueless! Thats why this qb should not have been in game and for making that decision this Coach should not be head coach ... Period

SECOND HALF:

Nathan Wayne Whitten My favorite part of the game was bringing Svoboda back in to kill a drive and walk away with 3 points. My 2nd was pocketing 3 timeouts in the first half. Great job Sawvel!

John Rando Why can't this defense ever get a stop after the offense finally gets into the end zone to give us the lead?

Jon Cummings I just don’t understand leaving the game to the kick. 30 seconds left. Passing game looked solid all game. Try to at least get us in field goal range with one of the best kickers in program history. I just don’t get it.

Ben Cornia A four year old could coach a better game

Robbie Lang It starts with playing for a field goal on the other end, on the last series of downs. The clock management situation at the end of the game is inexcusable. We would have had time to get a couple of plays and try to get into long field goal range.

Clint Lehar Worst coached game I have seen in a very long time…I keep asking myself what the plan is for moving forward other than a weakened MWC, but can’t come up with anything. I sure hope Burman’s contract negotiations are DIRECTLY tied to this season.

Lance Ball Bad decision on 2 point conversion. Bad penalties 1 on the coach. It was a self inflicted loss.

Andrew Arambel Sawvel has imploded the program in 8 games. Unbelievable, truly

Celyn Rogers Honestly we lost because sawvel wouldn’t bench 17. However the fact the hit on king wasn’t flagged but the unsportsmanlike on sawvel was is atrocious. Only positive is we have a new QB 1

Kellan Pontarolo What Sawvel meant to say was “Kaden Anderson” will be a great Quarterback at The University of Wyoming

Dana Warren Sawvel is a defensive coordinator NOT head coach material. He took a winning team with winning plays and has completely destroyed everything that Bohl built. So sad for our seniors to go out like this

Dave Christensen Getting out coached by USU is just sad.
