REPORTS: Mountain West presidents move meeting to Thursday night

LARAMIE -- Mountain West presidents were scheduled to meet Friday night to discuss the league's health findings, testing procedures and whether or not the 12-school conference can move forward with a fall football season after all.

That highly anticipated session will now take place Thursday night.

Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports tweeted that the conference has moved this meeting to a day earlier and that a vote to return-to-play could be possible that evening.

Brett McMurphy of Stadium echoed that tweet, adding that the league is "optimistic" about playing an eight-game conference-only schedule beginning Oct. 24. McMurphy also states that Air Force, and another MW team, could play just seven games this fall.

The Falcons are already slated to play Navy and Army for the Commander and Chiefs Trophy.

Sources have confirmed with 7220sports.com that Wyoming is preparing to hold a full-team practice "either Friday or Saturday."

The current hang up is the COVID-19 testing procedures and effectiveness. Thamel reported Monday that the conference's medical advisory board is still weighing options whether or not to use “three antigen tests per week or two antigen tests and a PCR test.”

The league's coaches have already agreed that a month is enough time to prepare for an upcoming season, per sources. The Cowboys are already practicing by position group.
