Road tilt at Oregon State highlights UW’s 7-game non-conference slate
LARAMIE -- Wyoming will take on Oregon State out of the Pac-12 Conference for the third time in four seasons the school announced Tuesday along with the rest of the Cowboys' seven-game non-conference schedule for the 2020-21 season.
New head coach Jeff Linder and Co. will travel to Corvallis, Ore., for the team's first away game Sunday, Dec. 6. The Beavers hold a 10-4 overall mark in the series. Wyoming is 3-6 all-time in Corvallis.
Wyoming will open the season Saturday, Nov. 28 when it hosts Mississippi Valley State inside the Arena-Auditorium. Two days later, another SWAC team, Texas Southern will pay a visit to Laramie.
Two days after that, UW welcomes Incarnate Word.
The Cowboys are unbeaten against the MVSU (1-0) and Texas Southern (2-0). This will be the first meeting between the Pokes and IWU.
The school also announced Tuesday that the Arena-Auditorium will host roughly 2,900 fans per home game, or 25% of the venue's capacity.
For the 158th time in the program's history, Wyoming and Denver will meet up on the hardwood. The Pokes' own an overall record of 105-52 against the Pioneers. UW's first road win of the season last year came inside Magness Arena where Wyoming pulled away for the 72-66 victory.
That game will take place Wednesday, Dec. 9.
The Cowboys will hit the road one last time in non-conference play on Dec. 12 when they take on Utah Valley in Orem. The Wolverines pulled off a last-minute 69-67 upset last December in Laramie.
The seventh and final non-league tilt brings Omaha to the A-A for a Thursday, Dec. 17 meeting. Wyoming is 2-0 all-time against the Mavericks.
