Rothe headed to East-West Shrine Bowl
LARAMIE -- It's been quite a week for Wyoming placekicker, Cooper Rothe.
The senior graduated from UW last weekend and Monday accepted an invite to the 95th East-West Shrine game, which will take place Jan. 18 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
This game pits some of the top college talent against each other in the longest-running all-star football game in the country. It's one last chance for seniors to showcase their talents before the 2020 NFL Draft.
Players like John Elway, Brett Favre and Walter Payton have played in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
Rothe, who finished the season 14-for-20, including a long of 48, was a Lou Groza Finalist after the 2018 campaign. That award goes to the nation's top kicker. The Longmont, Colo., native made his final three attempts this season.
He will play for the West team.
Former Wyoming safety Andrew Wingard played in this game last season.
