LARAMIE -- It's official -- we know nothing about high school football in the state of Wyoming.

By we, I mainly mean me.

I swung and missed on every single state title game last weekend inside War Memorial Stadium. If I'm being completely honest, I didn't do my homework. It showed.

Big congrats to Sheridan, Big Piney, Burlington, Star Valley and Torrington.

Mat Murdock was the only one of us that thought UNLV was for real. He was right. The Rebels have a quarterback and a fun, explosive offensive scheme. They gave Wyoming a firsthand look in a 34-14 dismantling last Friday night in Sin City.

The Cowboys title hopes are no more. UNLV will be in the driver's seat with a victory over slumping Air Force Saturday inside Falcon Stadium.

Wyoming will host a suddenly red-hot Hawaii team Saturday in Laramie. Kickoff is scheduled for noon and the game will be televised on Hawaii Spectrum PPV. You probably don't have that. You should probably just show up and say goodbye to at least 10 seniors and a few other underclassmen, who will play their final home game on the high plains.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
