LARAMIE -- Mitch Unrein never played against Hawaii during his four-year career in Laramie.

The Rainbow Warriors competed in the WAC during those days while the Cowboys moved to the Mountain West in 1999.

In 2007, Hawaii became just the third Group of Five team to crack the BCS. On New Year's Day in 2008, June Jones' team fell to Georgia 41-10 in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

Unrein's teams never got that far, but he did have himself a nice college career. The former walk-on from Eaton, Colo., registered 162 tackles and 10.5 sacks from 2006-09. He was named the defensive MVP of the New Mexico Bowl. You remember. Wyoming knocked off Fresno State 35-28 in double overtime.

Unrein went on to play in the NFL for parts of eight seasons. Most remember his days in a Broncos' uniform. In 2013, Unrein played in a Super Bowl. The previous year he lined up as a fullback and caught a touchdown from Peyton Manning.

Not a bad career for an undrafted free agent.

We asked Unrein to join us this in our weekly pick 'ems. Shocker -- he isn't taking Colorado State in their first game on the road at Fresno State.

Our guest fan is Riverton native, Marci Mahoney.

She lives down south now -- you know, the state below us -- but her fandom for the Pokes hasn't waivered one bit.

She just shared one of her newest purchases on Facebook. It's a doormat that says "Will not answer the door on game day. Steamboat is on the left-hand side.

Let's see if she can become the second straight UW fan to win our weekly pick 'em.

Last week's results

Our guest fan picker, Shawn Farrell, went 8-2 in the first week, missing just the Air Force and Wyoming games. We all took the Falcons -- and the Cowboys to win.

Oops.

Casey Dearcorn is off to a solid start. He went 7-3 overall. DJ Johnson and I both finished 6-4. Like idiots, we both thought Minnesota had a chance at home against Michigan. Alijah Halliburton also went 6-4. He picked Nebraska to upset Ohio State in The Horse Shoe.

Come on, man. That was my "bloodbath" pick.

Kasey Orr went .500 and my wife, Emilee O'Brien, finished a lowly 3-7.

My "bloodbath" pick

It pains me to write this. It really pains my Michigan-born wife. This week's bloodbath pick is the Wolverines taking care of business at The Big House against Michigan State.

Michigan is a 24 1/2-point favorite. Take that bet all day.

As most of you know, I covered the Spartans for a better part of two seasons in East Lansing. One of my fondest memories was covering a Michigan-MSU game in Ann Arbor. More than 100,000 rain-soaked fans crammed into Michigan Stadium and the visitors walked away with the Paul Bunyan Trophy.

Let's be real, it's always more fun when you cover the winning team.

Unfortunately, this one might get ugly for Sparty, who is coming off an upset home loss to Rutgers in Week 1. Michigan is going to win big. And Jim Harbaugh is not going to let his foot off the gas.

Remember the mishandled punt in Ann Arbor that led to an improbable win for MSU. That was in Harbaugh's first season at the helm of the UM program.

He hasn't forgotten.

Overall pick 'em records '20

Casey: 7-3
Cody: 6-4
DJ: 6-4
Kasey: 5-5
Emilee: 3-7
