LARAMIE -- I knew San Jose State was good.

Walk-into-Laramie-and-punch-you-in-the-mouth good? Not quite.

That's exactly what happened during the Cowboys 33-16 setback last Saturday inside War Memorial Stadium. That was Wyoming's first conference loss. They can't afford another, especially this week.

Last year we called the New Mexico matchup a "get well" week after consecutive losses to Air Force and Fresno State. The Lobos were fresh off a 36-7 trouncing at home, courtesy of Colorado State. Danny Gonzales' squad rolled up a grand total of 69 yards of total offense in that lopsided loss. Just 16 of those yards via the forward pass.

The Lobos were the sheep in wolf's clothing.

Or so we thought.

Wyoming turned the ball over twice, punted four times and turned the ball over on downs two more times in an embarrassing 14-3 setback.

So, per usual, we are all taking the Cowboys this Saturday in Albuquerque. Surely they can't lose to the lowly Lobos again, right?

Oops.

Fresno State, the favorite in the Mountain West, lost at UConn, burning all the pickers last week. Ouch.

For the first time this season, CSU didn't lose a football game. The Rams were on a bye. Jay Norvell will make his return to Reno Friday night. That should be a fun atmosphere.

Anyway, let's get back to this weekend's slate of games.
