LARAMIE -- Wyoming, once again, has welcomed nearly 50 new faces to the roster this offseason.

Jay Sawvel again made a list of 10 "keepers" last December, heading into free agency. Running back Samuel "Tote" Harris was, no doubt, high on that list. So were defensive tackles Dante Drake and Jayden Williams. The Cowboys' third-year head coach also wanted to hang on to players like tight end Jake Wilson, wideout Deion DeBlanc, nickel corner Desman Hearns and offensive tackles Rex Johnsen and Braylon Jenkins, among others.

Mission accomplished. All are back for another round on the high plains.

The team did lose its top-four outside targets, including leading receiver Chris Durr Jr., who is now at Maryland. Two impact cornerbacks also hit the open market. Tyrese Boss is at Arizona. Markie Grant headed west to former conference rival Utah State.

Wyoming will also have a new quarterback under center, snagging William and Mary graduate transfer Tyler Hughes, who has one season of eligibility remaining. The hope is he'll right the ship at that spot, keeping the seat warm for Gillette's Mason Drube.

The Cowboys also reloaded in the offensive backfield and at the line of scrimmage, adding 1,000-yard rusher Markell Holman and interior linemen Chandler DonawayJason Maciejcak and Jeremiah Katt.

You'll read all about those guys, along with 20-plus freshmen, in this summer series: Welcome to Wyoming football.

NAME | Therman 'Boogie' Williams

YEAR | Freshman

HT/WT | 5',10", 186

HOMETOWN | Riverside, Calif.

POSITION | Safety

JERSEY NUMBER | 25

PREVIOUS SCHOOL | Centennial High School

YEARS OF ELIGIBILITY | Four

NOTABLE | Colorado offered Therman Williams. So did former Mountain West foes San Diego State and Colorado State. UNLV and UConn were in the mix, too. The safety they call "Boogie" decided Laramie was the place for him after recording 44 stops -- 40 of the solo variety -- and picking off six passes during his senior season at Centennial High School in talent-rich southern California. He also added eight pass breakups. Williams earned a three-star rating and was listed as the No. 78 prospect in all of California, according to 247sports.

QUOTABLE | "He plays in an extremely competitive league, the Trinity League. They lost in the state title game. He's just a fun and energetic guy who's going to bring a lot of use to the defensive back room and hopefully to our defense, as well. He's a guy who plays corner for his team, but can play anywhere in the backfield. He could be a corner, safety or nickel. He can do a little bit of everything. So, we're excited to have him." -- Director of Player Personnel Austin Maus said on last December's early signing day

Just The Facts: Size Doesn't Matter For Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium

Did you know it would take the populations of Gillette (32,857), Laramie (32,381), Rock Springs (23,319), Sheridan (17,844) and Wright (1,200) to create a sellout inside Michigan's famed 107,601-seat Big House, the largest college football stadium in the nation?

For those of you not familiar with the Cowboy State, those are Wyoming's third through sixth most inhabited cities, along with the small mining town in Campbell County.
