LARAMIE -- Tyce Westland is headed to the Great White North.

The former Wyoming edge rusher Monday officially signed a contract with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League. The Pleasanton, Neb., native recently took part in a rookie minicamp with the Denver Broncos after not being selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Westland, who spent five years in Laramie, tallied 102 career tackles in that time frame  -- 51 of the solo variety and 51 assists. He also tacked on 5.5 sacks and forced three fumbles.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive end will join former college teammate Ayden Eberhardt in Canada's capital city. An active game-day roster in the CFL allows 19 Americans (not including quarterbacks) of the 45 dressed players.

Former Wyoming defensive tackle (2005-06) Corey Mace is the head coach in Saskatchewan. He led the Roughriders to a Grey Cup championship in 2025.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
