Pokes Add Another QB Ahead of Fall Camp

LARAMIE -- Wyoming has added another quarterback to the roster.

Tyler Franklin, a three-star recruit out of Bullard High School in Fresno, Calif., has committed to the Cowboy football program, he announced on social media, and will arrive on campus next month ahead of the official start of fall camp.

"Excited to announce my commitment to the University of Wyoming," Franklin penned on X. "Thank you to all the coaches that have helped me achieve this."

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound signal caller threw for 2,224 yards and 18 touchdowns last fall, according to MaxPreps. He added 239 more yards on the ground to go along with seven scores.

Franklin's best outing of the year came in early October when he torched Madera for 393 passing yards and six total touchdowns, four of which came through the air. He completed 22-of-30 throws in a 42-33 win.

During his three years as a varsity starter, Franklin amassed 4,831 passing yards and 47 touchdowns. On the ground he rolled up 522 yards and found the end zone a dozen more times.

The true freshman will join a QB room that includes presumed starter Tyler Hughes, along with Gillette's Mason Drube, Landon Sims and Taylor Hasselbeck, who is also a rookie.

Gage Brook, who has been under center throughout his previous three years in Laramie, made the position switch to tight end in the offseason.

Franklin also received offers from Delaware State, Black Hills State and Montana State before ultimately in May choosing to stay home and attend Fresno City College. Cal, Washington State, Cal Poly and Fresno State also showed interest.

Training camp at Wyoming is set to open Aug. 5.
