UW Doubles Leads the Way on Day Two at Bedford Cup

USAFA, Colo. (Sept. 14, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team continued action down at the Bedford Cup Saturday and had a solid day of doubles action while also picking up a pair of singles victory.
Elena Trencheva picked up Wyoming’s first singles win on the day, defeating Davidson’s Savanna Kollock, 6-2 and 6-3. Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia was up 3-1 on Montana State’s Mia Ljubas before Ljubas had to withdraw with an injury.
In doubles play, the tandem of Violetta Borodina and Dilnaz Mashabayeva split on the day. The duo won their opening match of the day, 8-7 (7-4) over Colorado State to advance to the semifinals.
In the semis, the team of Andrea Beltran and Louise Wikander of Denver won 8-3.
The Cowgirls also got doubles wins from Adel Ismagulova and Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia, as well as from Serina Abriola and Eugenia Ceinos. Ismagulova and Kochelaevskaia won 8-3 over Lillian Dwyer and Kailey Patel of Davidson. Abriola and Ceinos, meanwhile, defeated Natalie Paterova and Magdalena Nunez from Utah State, 8-3.
Those two doubles teams only played once on the day, because they would have matched up against one another in the next round.
