Vintage Wyoming Cowboys Finds Just in Time For the Holidays
LARAMIE -- Looking for a last-minute gift idea for the Wyoming fan in your life?
No, this is not an advertisement, though our friends at the Brown and Gold Outlet in Laramie and Cheyenne have all the Pokes' goods. You can't miss in those places or online.
Though I have always loved the new threads -- especially sideline gear -- I am also a sucker for vintage and rare shirts, hats, jackets and hoodies. Jerseys, on the other hand, will cause an insurmountable overdraft of my account.
That isn't hard to accomplish anyway.
I thought it might be fun to find some unique Wyoming Cowboys apparel -- and other cool finds -- and share it right here. My specialty is last-minute shopping, so if you're like me, hope and pray it gets here by next Tuesday.
Here we go:
* Game worn Gaston Gosar 1988 Champion Wyoming Cowboys Football Jersey
Game worn? Count me in. One from the last outright championship team in Cowboy history? Sold. Gosar was also a linebacker from Pinedale, which makes this find even cooler.
* Wyoming Cowboys RIddell speed full-size helmet
I love these old lids, especially ones from the history of Cowboy football. The gold facemask, which was worn throughout the 1980's, really pops on this one. When I see this combo I think Jay Novacek.
* Wyoming Cowboys vintage 1990's Starter jacket
Yes, please. I am in the age group that couldn't live without a Starter jacket. And, if I'm being honest, I still get that fuzzy feeling when I see them. I have about four jammed in my closet as we speak. This one, though outrageously expensive, features Pistol Pete on the back. It's perfection.
* Vintage 1970's University of Wyoming basketball T-shirt
I told you I'm a sucker for old school gear. This one is awesome, donned with the script "I'm so happy with Wyoming Basketball." You can see Sundance Wicks wearing this one, right?
* 3Stripe Wyoming Cowboys snapback trucker hat
I'm a big hat guy and I own more than I care to admit here. I feel naked without one. I love the old caps, especially with the net backs. This one is sweet, rare and actually pretty affordable.
* Vintage 1980's Wyoming First Edition Starter Jacket
Satin jackets inside War Memorial Stadium go together like peanut butter and jelly. This coat reminds me of my childhood and if it was a bigger size wouldn't have made this list. I would've bought it ... in a heartbeat.
* Wyoming Cowboys strength and conditioning Adidas T-Shirt
I'm oddly a "brand guy." If I know the shirt is from Walmart, I'm not interested. Weird, I know. Even I can't explain that one. I am huge on wearing the supplier of the team. In Wyoming's case, Adidas. When it's a team-issued shirt like this one, I am all over it.
* Vintage Wyoming Cowboys 1980's 2T outfit
I'm not even quite sure what I'm looking at here, but it's awesome. If I would've only known, my now 3-year-old daughter would've been rocking this bad boy with pride. I'm a big fan of Pistol Pete on anything. This is really cool.
* Vintage 1/4 zip Wyoming Cowboys sweatshirt
The old "W" logo also brings back so many great memories. It screams late 80's, early 90's. This was on nearly every Wyoming shirt I owned as a kid. I still have the Starter jacket.
* 1986 WAC Champions Wyoming Cowboys basketball T-shirt
Any clothing symbolizing a title in team history is an awesome find, in my opinion. I still have shirts from the Holiday Bowls, Las Vegas Bowl and the first New Mexico Bowl. While this shirt doesn't exactly scream "championship," it's pretty cool. Maybe Fennis Dembo, Eric Leckner and Sean Dent still have one?
