Wyoming’s Westland, Johnson Invited to NFL Rookie Minicamps
LARAMIE -- The dream isn't yet dead for a pair of Wyoming's top defensive players in 2025.
Tyce Westland and Brayden Johnson Monday were invited to attend NFL rookie minicamps from the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints, respectively.

That duo joins offensive guard Caden Barnett (Chicago Bears), running back Sam Scott (New York Jets) and tight ends John Michael Gyllenborg (Kansas City Chiefs) and Evan Svoboda (Los Angeles Chargers), who Sunday all came to terms with their respective teams.
Former edge rusher Sabastian Harsh, who graduated from Wyoming before capping his collegiate career last fall at North Carolina State, also inked with the Houston Texans.
Emmanuel Pregnon is the only former Cowboy who was drafted last weekend, going to Jacksonville in the third round. The 318-pound offensive lineman from Denver played in Laramie from 2021-22 before transferring to USC and eventually Oregon.

Westland tallied 102 career tackles at Wyoming -- 51 solo stops and 51 assists -- including a career-best 43 last season. The Pleasanton, Neb., product also tacked on 5.5 sacks from the defensive end spot. He forced at least one fumble in each of his three years as a fulltime contributor.
Johnson, who played only one season at the FBS level, led the Cowboys with 81 tackles in 2025. The Oklahoma Baptist transfer also tied for the team lead with two interceptions, including a 65-yard pick-six in a 35-28 home victory over San Jose State.
Johnson also snagged an interception off the right arm of Akron's Ben Finley deep in Wyoming's red zone in the season opener. The visitors would eventually leave Ohio with a 10-0 shutout.
