Cowgirls Blanked at South Dakota State, 2-0
BROOKINGS, S.D., – The University of Wyoming soccer team had a tough go of it Thursday night at Fishback Soccer Park. South Dakota State became the first squad to shut out the Cowgirls, winning by a final tally of 2-0.

The loss drops the Pokes to 5-2-1 on the season and snaps their three-game win streak. The win improves the Jackrabbits to 6-1-3 on the year.
Wyoming fell despite having 23 shots, nine of which were on frame. South Dakota State managed 11 shots, only two of which were on target.
One of those Jackrabbit shots occurred late in the first half. Jenna Maloy scored off a pass from Deizha Lyn Jacinto during the 40th minute. It marked the first score Wyoming has surrendered since the second half of the Colorado game on Aug. 31.
South Dakota State doubled up its lead via a Wyoming own goal in the 49th minute.
Kiley Ballek and Alyssa Glover each fired four shots to pace the Pokes. Maddie Burr owned three shots, while Hadley Linder, Erin Dahl and Lauren Westwood had two shots apiece.
Wyoming keeper, Haley Bartel, made only one save. Her streak of three straight shutouts came to a close.
South Dakota State goalie, Mallorie Benhart, turned away nine shots. It was her fourth shutout of the season.
The Cowgirls remain in South Dakota to take on the Coyotes. That match is set for Sunday at 12 p.m.
