LARAMIE -- Wyoming's coaches and players are in one-game-at-a-time mode.

Good, they should be.

We aren't.

The Cowboys have a real shot over the next two weeks to get off to a 4-1 start in Mountain West play and be just one victory away from bowl eligibility, heading into the lone bye week.

Hard to believe, huh?

What will that take? Taking care of business at home against a winless Northern Illinois team and a feisty Air Force bunch that is playing without its starting quarterback Liam Szarka. The Falcons own a slight 32-28-3 edge in the all-time series, but Troy Calhoun and Co. haven't won inside War Memorial Stadium since 2012.

Who could forget that meeting between these two Front-Range rivals?

Remember Dave Christensen's postgame tirade, aimed directly at Calhoun, accusing the longtime head coach of faking an injury to its starting quarterback? Wyoming's fourth-year boss was fined $50,000 and suspended by the school.

Howdy Doody was born.

Before we go too far down this rabbit hole, Jared Newland and I discuss the 16-13 overtime victory last Friday night in San Jose and look ahead to a very winnable game this Saturday on the high plains.

The win inside a sparse CEFCU Stadium was the Cowboys' first road success in eight tries. The program was also carrying an eight-game winless streak in the Golden State.

That's all a distant memory now.

We'll also take a look around the conference, give you some betting suggestions and, as always, divulge the "stupidest s---" I read all week. You can find it all by clicking right HERE.
