UW President Attempting to Start New Football Tradition

LARAMIE -- Wyoming is starting a new football tradition and Shane Reeves wants your input.

In one of his many comical social media videos, the university's new president is asking fans to pick an anthem to be played inside War Memorial Stadium between the third and fourth quarter of every home game.

If you don't choose, his threat could become real: "Friday" by Rebecca Black or "What Does the Fox Say?" by Ylvis.

Jay Sawvel, in my humble opinion, has a way better idea:

"I would do "Duality" by Slipknot," Wyoming's third-year head coach said with a smile, referring to the 2004 hit by the hard-hitting metal group from Iowa. "I think I would do that, but I don't know that President Reeves will ask me."

Whether or not that song makes the cut, Sawvel said it will blare through the stadium speakers at some point every Saturday.

"I'm going to make sure that our marketing team -- So, I'll contact Shelley (Heward) -- will play "Duality" by Slipknot when we either come on the field for warm up or something like that. So, that will happen. That would be my song."

After taking a quick trip through the comment section under Reeves' post, it appears most fans want to stick with the status quo: country music. Seeing a lot of calls for local artists like Chris LeDoux, Ian Munsick and Chancey Williams. Toby Keith, more specifically his hit "Should've Been a Cowboy," is also getting plenty of love.

While we're on the subject of new traditions, here's an idea: After every win, former head coach Joe Glenn appears on the jumbotron, banging on the piano and singing "Ragtime Cowboy Joe." My baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies, does this after every home victory, playing a video from 1993 of beloved play-by-play broadcaster, the late, great Harry Kalas singing "High Hopes."

It hits the feels every time.
