Injured Wyoming Running Back Says He’s Entering Portal
LARAMIE -- A third Wyoming football player is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Just hours after putting a bow on the 2026 recruiting class, a rookie from last year's haul, Patrick Broadway II, announced via social media he would be leaving the program with all of his eligibility intact.

The true freshman suffered a torn ACL during the team's first official workout of fall camp and missed the entire 2025 campaign.
Broadway joins wide receiver Chris Durr Jr. and fellow running back Terron Kellman, who also shared this week that they would be hitting the open market this offseason.
The two-week portal window officially opens Jan. 2.
"With a lot of thought, I will be departing from the Cowboys and use my four years and redshirt year, since I used my medical year on my torn ACL this season," Broadway said in a direct message on X. "With all good intentions, I will take my talents to another program."
The 5-foot-11, 216-pound Houston product rushed for 3,954 yards and 42 touchdowns during his career at Fulshear High School. He was a three-time District Offensive MVP and First Team All-District selection in the highest classification in the state of Texas.

What was initially thought to be a lower-hamstring strain turned into a season-ending knee injury for Broadway.
"Structurally, there really wasn't a lot wrong," Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel said in late July. "When you look at him right now, he's not any kind of brace, and he's walking with no limp.
"Everyone was kind of surprised to find that there was a tear in the ACL."
Along with Wyoming, Broadway fielded offers from Prairie View A&M, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Concordia-St. Paul.
He also received interest from Lincoln University (Missouri), Sterling College (Kansas), Millsaps College (Miss.), Maryville College (Tenn.), Midwestern State (Texas), Hardin-Simmons and East Texas Baptist.
Sawvel called Broadway a "victim of 2025 recruiting" on last February's traditional signing day. He was referring to the quick-fix of the portal and less schools taking high school talent.
"This was a guy that had a lot of people talk to him, but no one was pulling a trigger on him," he continued. "And a lot of times, it's like, once there's one offer, then there becomes a dozen."
Sawvel said Wednesday Wyoming will be in the market for a transfer running back this offseason. He's also confident starter Samuel "Tote" Harris and Damashja Harris will return for the '26 campaign, along with Nico Hamilton and Jaden Lawrence. Ryken Banks, who attended the same high school as Lawrence in Parker, Colo., also signed with the program after rushing for more than 1,200 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior.
