Cowgirls Win Sixth Straight Road Game, Blank Nevada, 2-0

RENO, Nev., -- Wyoming is getting awfully comfortable away from home.

The Cowgirls, thanks to Haley Bartel's sixth shutout of the season, blanked Nevada 2-0 Thursday night inside Reno's Mackay Stadium.

It's the teams program-record sixth straight victory. All have come on the road. Also a new standard in the history books.

“There’s always a little bit of nerves going into the first conference road game,” head coach Josh Purdum said. “But when you realize it’s just another game, and we prepare the same way, we talk the same way, we walk the same way, we should expect a good performance."

Wyoming improves to 8-2-0 on the season with its first Mountain West victory. The Wolf Pack are now 3-7-0.

Alyssa Glover found the back of the net just four minutes into the match. Reese Gould was credited with the helper. For Glover, it's her fifth goal of the season and 24th in her career, just one shy of a program record for markers. Jamie Tatum netted 25 from 2019-23.

That was also the ninth game-winning tally of Glover's career. That's third-most in Cowgirl history.

Brooke Brown, from distance, gave the visitors a two-goal advantage late in regulation. That was her second goal of the season.

In total, Wyoming owned a 15-2 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in shots on goal. Glover had four shots, while Isabel Vasco and Kiley Ballek recorded three and two shots, respectively.

Bartel now has 24 clean sheets after making a single save in Nevada. That makes 24 for her career, five more than Ashley Sheppard, who was in net in Laramie from 2004-07.

"Several had to step up," Purdum added. "To go that deep into our bench and get a shutout and a couple goals on the road feels good.”

The Cowgirls remain on the road next week. They travel to UC Davis on Oct. 2 for a 7 p.m. match at Aggie Soccer Field.
