Wyoming, TCU Basketball to Face Off in West Texas Exhibition

LARAMIE -- Wyoming's regular season schedule is still under construction, but the school announced Monday one exhibition tilt now has a date, time, location and opponent.

The Cowboys will travel to West Texas to take on former conference foe TCU on Oct. 17 inside the AI G. Langford Chaparral Center on the campus of Midland College. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CDT and attendance is free to all fans.

“It is a great opportunity for us and we will be playing a high major opponent to test us early,” UW head coach Sundance Wicks said in a release. “To go down and play in Midland, I know we have some Pokes fans that represent the Brown and Gold in Texas.

"It will be a chance for us to get some experience against a well-coached team in TCU.”

The last meeting between these two programs came back in 2019 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. That was a 64–47 Horned Frogs' victory in the third-place consolation game of the MGM Resorts Main Event.

TCU, which was a member of the Mountain West Conference from 2005-11, leads the all-time series, 12-9.

Brendan Wenzel and Noah Reynolds, who began their playing careers at Wyoming, capped their college tenures in Fort Worth. Reynolds is the younger brother of current UW assistant Nic Reynolds.

The Cowboys will also play Northern Colorado (TBA in Gillette) and College of Idaho (Oct. 24 in Laramie) in the preseason, along with regular season home meetings against Idaho State (Nov. 6) and San Diego (Dec. 5). Wyoming will travel to Colorado State (TBA), North Carolina (Nov. 10), Denver (Nov. 14) and Portland (Dec. 19).
