
Wyoming’s Track and Field Journey Begins Wednesday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (May 26, 2026) – The University of Wyoming men’s track & field team will see four qualifiers compete in three events to kick off the NCAA championship season at the Outdoor West First Round, May 27 and 29, at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (MT)
Wednesday: 6 p.m. – Men’s Shot Put First Round (ESPN/ ESPN 2)
Friday: 4:40 p.m. – Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase Quarterfinals (ESPN 2)
7:10 p.m. – Men’s 5,000m Semifinals (ESPN 2)
Wyoming will be represented in three events starting on Wednesday with the men’s shot put first round. Senior Cam Burkett will make his fourth appearance at the West Preliminaries after narrowly missing the championships, finishing 14th a year ago. He will throw sixth in flight four of the competition. Burkett will need to finish Top 12 to move on to the championship in Eugene, Ore.
Friday’s action will begin with two Pokes, senior Ryker Holtzen and sophomore Solomon Holden-Betts, running in the steeplechase quarterfinal. The Top three finishers from each of the three heats, plus the three best remaining times, will advance to TrackTown USA. Holden-Betts will run in heat two while Holtzen looks to start in heat three.
Finally, senior Jacob White will take on the 5,000-meter semifinal, where only the Top 5 from heat one and two, along with the next best two times, move on to the championship final. He will run in heat one to close Wyoming’s campaign at the West First Round.
