LARAMIE -- Anyone up for another 1,888-mile road trip?

That's the exact distance from War Memorial Stadium to Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. It's a trip the Cowboys made last September. It's a journey they will make again in 2029.

The University of Wyoming and UConn athletics departments Wednesday announced two programs will play a home-and-home series, beginning Aug. 29, 2026 when the Huskies pay a visit to the high plains. The Pokes will repay the favor three seasons later. That game is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2029.

You might recall, it took a Rome Weber pass deflection on a 2-point conversion attempt for Wyoming to escape New England with a 24-22 victory last season. That was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

UW went on to finish the season 7-6 and claimed a Famous Idaho Potato Bowl victory. The Huskies won just one game in 2021, knocking off Yale 21-15 in mid-October. It was the program's first victory in 751 days.

UConn, who is a football independent, didn't field a team in 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic.

The Cowboys' 2026 schedule features three home non-conference games: UConn, North Texas and Northern Colorado.

The Cowboys are scheduled to kick off the upcoming 2022 season on Aug. 27 at Illinois followed by the home opener versus Tulsa on Sept. 3.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
