Fertig closed her stellar Wyoming basketball career in March and capped off one of the finest seasons in program history in 2024-25.

Fertig became just the third Cowgirl in Mountain West history to be named the league’s player of the year and was just the second Cowgirl in Mountain West history to win the conference scoring crown. She also became the first student-athlete in MW history to record 500+ points, 300+ rebounds and 50+ blocks in the same season.

Fertig, who was the 2022 Mountain West Freshman of the Year, was a three-time All-Mountain West Team member, a two-time Mountain West Championship All-Tournament Team honoree and was on the 2025 Mountain West All-Defense Team.

Fertig finished second in program history with 1,860 career points, good enough for 10th all-time in Mountain West history. Her 1,216 career rebounds are the most all time in both program and conference history.

Fertig's 766 career field goals are the second-most in program and third-most in MW history. She finished third in program history and sixth in conference history with 210 career blocks while her 48 career double-doubles are tied for the most in MW history and are second all-time at UW.

Fertig, who was also a three-time CSC Academic All-District selection, appeared in 130 career games for the Brown & Gold, the sixth-most in program history. In track & field side of things, Fertig has the 10th-best shot put in program history with a throw of 47’-10 ¾”. Fertig was a four-time Academic All-Mountain West Team member, as well as a four-time MW Scholar-Athlete.

Since its establishment in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year program has recognized excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership in graduating female student-athletes.

The Woman of the Year Selection Committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will choose the top 30 nominees – 10 from each division – from the conference-level nominees. The top 30 honorees will be announced in the fall.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
