LARAMIE — Remember the name Mills Lane?

"Let's get it on!"

Ring any bells yet?

He was the referee who stopped the Mike Tyson-Evander Holyfield fight, Apparently there was a bit of some sort involved in that decision. Well, Lane went to the University of Nevada.

Here are a few other famous alums that called Reno home during their college years: Susan Desmond-Hellmann is the CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Jennifer Harmon is the first professional female card player to win two bracelets in the World Series of Poker and Ron Toomer, the guy who created the corkscrew roller coaster, went to UNR.

Maybe the most impressive "alum" is Washoe. That was the first chimpanzee in the world to learn American sign language.

OK, let's be real -- these names are not of the household variety -- Nevada has produced some cool things though.

They have six Pulitzer Prize winners, the guy who created the New World Thesaurus (A personal thank you from me) and the creation of the first "laugh track," which is commonly used on sitcoms.

The Wolf Pack have had their fair share of athletes, too.

Colin Kaepernick (you may have heard of him), Nate Burleson, Charles Mann, Brandon Marshall (former Broncos linebacker), Lyle Overbay, Chad Qualls, Chris Singleton, Brock Marion and Nick Fazekas all wore the navy and silver.
