TULSA, Okla., -- This oil town in northeast Oklahoma is bringing some heat in the celebrity category.

And you thought George Strait going to Texas State was impressive.

OK, so not all these famous folks went to the University of Tulsa, but they are born or lived there for a certain amount of time.

Check this out.

Garth Brooks, Joe Diffie, Ronnie Dunn (of Brooks & Dunn fame), Anita Bryant, Rodney Carrington, Hanson (yes, those guys) and OneRepublic lead singer, Ryan Tedder are all from Tulsa.

Those are just musicians.

Talk-radio legend, Paul Harvey, crazy actor, Gary Busey, funny man, Bill Hader, and fictional radio character, Roy D. Mercer, all hail from this part of Oklahoma. Ever heard Mercer? If not, Google it. Hilarious.

How about some sports figures from the area?

Former Atlanta Braves skipper, Bobby Cox, Bill Goldberg, the giant professional wrestler, Tommy Morrison of Rocky fame, college basketball coaching legends, Nolan Richardson and Tubby Smith, and former Astros pitcher, Dallas Keuchel.

Pretty impressive list, huh?

How about some famous alums from TU?

Dr. Phil McGraw is a Golden Hurricane, so is Rue McClanahan (Vivian from the Golden Girls). Steve Largent is a TU football legend. He also dabbled in politics. Gus Frerotte quarterbacked Tulsa in the early 90's, and former Dallas Cowboys wide out, Drew Pearson wore the gold and blue.

And maybe the most famous person to ever spent time at TU -- Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl -- coached the linebackers there in 1985-86.
