“C.J. is a young, talented defensive back who gives us another weapon on defense," BC General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden said in a release. "He will be expected to compete right away."

Coldon, who spent four seasons in Laramie before transferring to the University of Oklahoma, registered 56 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble out of the Redblacks' secondary while playing alongside former Cowboy Robert Priester.

He started all 17 games last season.

After going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft, Coldon spent time on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad. He eventually made his way north the following season, inking with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was released in the team's final camp cuts.

He appeared in just one game with Ottawa in 2024, tallying seven tackles and a forced fumble.

Coldon, a 5-foot-10, 186-pound defensive back, was a Big XII Honorable Mention during his graduate-transfer season after snagging a team-high four interceptions. At Wyoming, the Belleville, Ill., product finished with 117 tackles and two picks.

He might be best known for his scoop-and-score in the 2019 opener. He raced 30 yards down the east sideline after picking up a loose ball and scored the Cowboys' first touchdown in what would be an eventual 37-31 upset of visiting Missouri.

Former Wyoming wideouts Ayden Eberhardt (Ottawa) and Ayir Asante (Edmonton) are also on current CFL rosters. So are defensive tackle Gavin Meyer (Edmonton), linebacker Connor Shay (Winnipeg), defensive end Jonathan Kongbo (Toronto) and cornerback Priester (Toronto).

Corey Mace, who led Saskatchewan to a Grey Cup championship in 2025, lined up at defensive tackle at Wyoming from 2005-06.

Just The Facts: Size Doesn't Matter For Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium

Did you know it would take the populations of Gillette (32,857), Laramie (32,381), Rock Springs (23,319), Sheridan (17,844) and Wright (1,200) to create a sellout inside Michigan's famed 107,601-seat Big House, the largest college football stadium in the nation?

For those of you not familiar with the Cowboy State, those are Wyoming's third through sixth most inhabited cities, along with the small mining town in Campbell County.
