Coach’s Corner, Quotes from Director of Golf Joe Jensen
“The reasons for starting our Wyoming Desert Match Play event were first to give us a chance to get to the desert early in the spring season, get some good training in leading up to the event and frankly I always wanted to start a match play event,” said UW Director of Golf Joe Jensen. “It is becoming a popular event. Teams like it and there aren’t a lot of match play events out there for college teams.
“I think it is also becoming one of the players’ favorite events, with the focus being on the team and it is fun to see the guys pulling for one another throughout the weekend.
“We have a few new teams this year in our eight-team field. The Classic Club in Palm Desert loves having us. In match play, anything can happen. Fortunately, we’re the defending champion, but that was last year, and now we will focus on this year’s team as we start off our spring season.”
