Cowboys Lose Another Edge Rusher to Transfer Portal
LARAMIE -- Wyoming has lost another defensive player to the portal.
Ethan Day, a junior defensive end, announced he will enter college football's version of free agency Friday morning on social media. The Ripon, Calif., product is the ninth Cowboy to leave the program this offseason, the eighth on that side of the football.
"The past two years at the University of Wyoming have been some of the best times of my life," Day penned on X. "I'm extremely grateful for everyone here. With that, I will be entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility."
Defensive tackle Jaden Williams bolted on Dec. 9, the opening of the winter transfer window. Safeties Koa McIntyre and Nikos Varelas, along with redshirt cornerback Naz Hill, followed. So did edge rusher Braden Siders and linebacker Read Sunn, both of which have just one year of eligibility remaining.
So did Cole DeMarzo. The senior linebacker, though, announced his decision to retire from the game and pursue a career in financial planning earlier in the week.

Tyler "TK" King is the lone offensive player to leave Laramie. He was named to the All-Mountain West First Team last fall after leading the conference in average yards per kick return. The Houston native was also a wide receiver.
Day, who began his collegiate career at Modesto Community College (Calif.), appeared in just one game during the 2023 campaign.
That changed in a big way last season.
The 6-foot-4, 255-pound edge rusher, was on the field for all 12 games, tallying 19 tackles. He also added half-a-sack, a forced fumble and a recovery. All of that came in the season finale, a 15-14 victory at Washington State.
The NCAA Transfer Portal will close for the winter on Dec. 28. The spring window is open from April 16-25.
