Wyoming Wideout TK King is Hitting The Open Market
LARAMIE -- TK King is hitting the portal.
Wyoming's speedy wideout announced Wednesday he intends to transfer Dec. 9 when the window opens. The Houston product joins defensive tackle Jaden Williams and edge rusher Braden Siders as the only players who have so far publicly announced their intentions to leave the program.
"I really just stay to myself," King said back in September when asked how he was adjusting to Wyoming. "There's not really nothing to do out here, so I'll be at home. I
just focus on football and school. I'm kind of isolated. I can focus on myself."
King, who was the only Cowboy to land First Team All-Mountain West honors Monday, spent just one season on the high plains after transferring from Texas Tech. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound sophomore snagged 17 passes for 236 yards this fall. Twice he finished with 52 receiving yards in a game.
Where he was really dangerous came on special teams.
King returned 15 kicks for 422 yards, 100 of which came on a touchdown return against North Texas. He was a shoestring away from doing the same to Idaho, getting tripped up after a 28-yard burst. He averaged 28.1 yards per attempt, good enough for fourth in the nation.

Also a regular on the jet sweep, King carried the ball 13 times for 100 yards. He broke a 54-yarder for a touchdown in a home loss to Utah State. He was also knocked out of the game after taking a violent shot to the head in the second half. He also rushed for a three-yard score in a win over Air Force inside War Memorial Stadium.
King spent two years in Lubbock where he hauled in just one pass for six yards. He was one of the fastest recruits in the state, hitting the 20.74 mark in the 200-meter dash. He also hit 40.50 on his leg of the 4x100 relay.
The former three-star recruit was listed as the No. 59 wide receiver in the 2022 class by ESPN and the No. 61 overall player in the state of Texas.
King arrived on campus with cheetah-print cleats and a ball python named Speedy. Now, he will be looking for his second new school in as many years.
Freshman wide out Chris Durr Jr. is expected to return next fall. So is the team's leading receiver Jaylen Sargent. Justin Stevenson should also be in the mix.
Jay Sawvel said Wednesday during his signing day press conference that newcomer Deion DeBlanc, who will be an early enrollee this winter, also has a chance to make an immediate impact on this roster.
Adding to that position this offseason is far from over, too, Sawvel added.
He failed to touch on King's exit.
"The minute that Deion DeBlanc committed, you know, that gave me some clarity on some other things that I wanted to do with the roster," Wyoming's rookie head coach said. "That's about all I need to say there. So, we're in good shape."
