Cowboys Open Play at Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The University of Wyoming Men's Golf team was in action on Sunday as they competed in the opening round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the Eisenhower Golf Course.
With two rounds left to play the Cowboys sit in a tie for 16th as a team led by Davis Seybert who is currently tied for 16th.
"We didn't play our best golf today, thankfully we have two more rounds to play and we get a chance to get some shots back and climb in the standings." UW Director of Golf Joe Jensen "We just need to turn our attention to tomorrow and Tuesday and try to build off of some of the things we did do good today. If we can do that then we will be in a good spot."
Seybert paced the Cowboys through the first round shooting a 72 (E) to finish the day tied for 16th. Patrick Azevedo posted a score of 74 (+2) to cap off his day tied for 32nd. The duo of Jaren Calkins and Jimmy Dales both shot a 77 (+5) in the opening round as they each sit in a tie for 72nd heading into the second round. Kristof Panke rounds out the Cowboy lineup currently sitting in a tie for 109th with a score of 80 (+2).
In the team standings, the Cowboys are currently tied for 16th with a team score of 300 (+12) sitting even with Northern Colorado sitting just one stroke behind Weber State, Wofford and Air Force who are al tied for 13th. Valparaiso are the current tournament leaders after shooting a 285 (-3) in the first round.
Play will continue tomorrow with the second round of action set to tee off at 9:30 a.m.
