Cowgirl Golf falls to NDSU at Mountain Classic Matchplay

PALM DESERT, Calif., – Wyoming Cowgirls golf lost 4-1 to North Dakota State in the Mountain Classic Matchplay on Tuesday at The Classic Club.

Senior Kyla Wilde went 1 up after the first hole and never relinquished control in defeating Avery Bartels 4&3 to lead the Cowgirls.

Meghan Vogt lost 5&4 to Hannah Dunk and Kira Reisner lost 6&4 to Norah Roberts to put UW in a 1-2 deficit with two matches to finish.

Madie Hicks clinched the match for the Bison by edging Sophie Spiva, 4&3. Emerson Purcell fell in the final match of the evening, which wasn't decided until the 18th hole, to Elise Hoven, 1&0.

Samantha Spielman improved to 2-0 in individual matches by outlasting Boise State's Zoe Parker, 2&1.

UW, which opened the event with a 4-1 loss to Northern Arizona on Monday, will face Montana State in the final round on Wednesday.
