Cowgirl golfers complete first day at Clash at Boulder Creek

BOULDER CREEK, Nev., -- Wyoming Cowgirl Golf began play at the Clash at Boulder Creek Sunday afternoon completing the first round of play at the Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder Creek, Nevada. The Cowgirls sit in a three-way tie for 10th after the first 18 holes of play.

"Today's conditions were tough and i thought the responded very well." head women's golf coach Josey Stender said. "Morgan responded well from the last event. She got off to a very good start with three birdies in a row and continued her round very confidently."

The first round of action was highlighted by Morgan Ryan shooting a 74 (+2) to lead the Cowgirls as she finished the first day tied for 25^th. Meghan Vogt finished one stroke behind Ryan shooting a 75 (+3) and sits in a tie for 35^th. Both Jessica Zapf and Kyla Wilde finished tied for 53rd after the first day as each of them shot a 77 (+5). Rounding out the Cowgirl lineup, Samantha Hui finished the first round tied for 97^th.

On the team leaderboards, it is a tight competition after one round as the Cowgirls sit in a tie for 10^th but are only six strokes off of UNLV who currently sits in sixth place. Wyoming shot a 303 (+15) as a team and are currently tied with California Baptist and Sacramento State. San Francisco leads the 18-team field with a team score of 285 (-3), they were the only team to shoot under par in the first round.

Action will resume tomorrow with the second round of play set to tee off at 9 a.m. MT. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes of play.
