LARAMIE -- The Cowgirl golfers have had a busy summer thus far playing in tournaments throughout the United States.

The golf season is right around the corner for the Brown and Gold with the Cowgirl roster returning some veterans along with an exciting group of newcomers.

Four Cowgirls made the final four at the Wyoming State Match play. Kyla Wilde won the event for the Cowgirls. She defeated former Cowgirl Morgan Ryan. Sophie Spiva and Samantha Spielman made appearances in the semifinals. That group along with Grace Dunkleberger also played in a U.S. Open Qualifier in Colorado. Dunkleberger made a deep run in the Colorado State Match Play.

Spielman also played in the Women’s Amateur qualifying. She also played in the Wyoming State Amateur finishing second with a low round of 73. She also won the First Flight of the Laramie Open, as the only female golfer in the field.

Kira Reisner has had a busy summer. She earned a 10th place finish at the SCGA women’s Qualifier. She also played in the SCGA Amateur, FCG Collegiate, and U.S. Open qualifier.

Lucia Morelli, a native of Washington was the 3A State runner up and KingCo Golfer of the Year. She finished 17th at the Washington Amateur and won the WJGA Sub-District. She will play in the PNGA Amateur and WJGA District Championship.

Caroline Ryan, a Colorado native played in the CGA Junior Championship. She finished third at the Flat Irons to qualify for the CGA Junior Championship. She also played in the U.S. Girls Junior Qualifier.

Erika Cook, a Wyoming native won the WSGA State Junior Championship. She also won the WJGT Buffalo Junior. She will also represent Wyoming at the Girls Junior America’s Cup for the third time this month.

Emerson Purcell a native of Ohio played in the inaugural LPGA USGA Girls Golf National Championship at Pine Needles. She recorded top-30 rounds. She also played in the Donna Andrews Invitational and will play in the GolfWeek Hoosier Amateur at the end of July.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
