UW finishes the regular season at 16-9 overall and 7-3 in the Mountain West and will be the No. 3 seed at next week’s Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas.

“It’s always good to beat CSU, especially on the road, so kudos to the girls,” said Head Coach Dean Clower.

“We fought hard on every line. It’s great to get some help at the bottom of the lineup. We got big wins at the bottom lines today, especially after losing the doubles point. We have a quick turnaround before the tournament. I think the girls all know we can do this thing, so if you’re in Vegas, get out to watch the Cowgirls play some tennis.”

After losing the doubles point in a tiebreak, Wyoming rallied to win 4-of-5 completed singles matches on the day. Violetta Borodina got the Cowgirls on the board first at No. 3 singles with the first of three UW straight-set wins. Borodina won 6-2 and 6-3.

Next, the Cowgirls took a lead they wouldn’t relinquish as Sophie Zehender rallied after dropping the first set, 1-6 and then took the next two sets in dominant fashion, 6-1 and 6-1. Wyoming closed the match out with wins at the No. 4 and 5 spots from Jeselle Ante and Nikol Dobrilova, respectively. Ante won 6-1 and 6-3 while Dobrilova came out on top, 6-0, 6-3.

Ante and Lucia Malinak got the Cowgirls’ lone doubles in on the day, 7-5 at the No. 3 position. Next up is the Mountain West Tournament. Wyoming will face the winner of the No. 6/11 matchup at 3 p.m., Mountain Time Thursday, April 25. UW faces the winner of CSU and Air Force.
