Cowgirls Complete First Round of Play at Moore Intercollegiate

DENVER, Colo., -- The Wyoming Cowgirl golf squad opened up play at the Denver Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Friday completing the first 18 holes at the University of Denver Golf Club.
“We had a tough start and struggled with our speed on the greens today. They maintained confidence and fought hard but we just couldn’t get anything to drop,” UW head women’s golf coach Josey Stender said. “We have a lot of belief in our game. We just need to come out with a better feel on the greens.”
The trio of Kyla Wilde, Morgan Ryan, and Jadan Gonzalez led Wyoming on the first day of play with each of them finishing the round tied for 60th with a score of 77 (+5). Rounding out the Cowgirls lineup are Samantha Hui and Rachel Stoinski who are both currently tied for 78th with a first-round score of 80 (+8).
Jessica Zapf was also in action on the day competing as an individual. Zapf wrapped up the day tied for 86thwith a score of 82 (+10)
In the team standings, the Cowgirls sit in 16th after the first round of play with a score of 311 (+23), trailing 15thplace Grand Canyon University by eight strokes. Vanderbilt currently sits atop the team standing with a score of 280 (-8) while New Mexico sits in second with a score of 284 (-4).
The Cowgirls will be back in action tomorrow for the second round of play which is set to tee of 8:30 a.m. MT.
